poetry. short fiction. travel writing. blogging.
Malaysia | Canada
I am an aspiring writer born in Singapore, raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and currently based in Toronto, Canada. I am quite certain that life is going to continue dropping me in random parts of the world, which luckily for me is part of the plan.
I have a BA (Honours) in History, and I minored in English Literature. I have worked as a journalist, copywriter, and ghost writer, but really I just want to be a writer - the kind that writes about made-up characters and not-so-made-up problems.
I was awarded the Timothy Findley Creative Writing Prize in 2018 and the P.K. Page Poetry Prize as a student at Trent. I have been published in anthologies, journals, magazines, and as a journalist and ghostwriter.
I write about food, culture, geeks, and badass women. I try to do sci-fi, sometimes. I should really read more.
Check out my writing under four categories: Poetry, Prose, Serotonin Tourist, and The Third Culture. Serotonin Tourist is my travel blog focusing on the experience of travelling with that pesky carry-on, depression. How do I negotiate never wanting to go outside with having a life goal of seeing the world?
In my free time I like to go to metal concerts and scream at the band, or play video games and scream at the computer. I have compiled my creative works here, at least the ones that don't make me want to scream even more. I can be contacted for commissions or project offers (because I'm trying to do this for a living) or just for the heck of it.
